Today Google announced their release of eight Google Apps Regional K-12 User Groups, and their corresponding web sites. Their user group websites look amazingly similar to our own Apps User Group site ( www.appsusergroup.org), have many of the same features, and even have almost the same web address (they are .com and we are .org) Well I guess imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and great minds must think alike ;-)
The eight User Group sites are: - California: k12california.appsusersgroup.com
- Texas: k12texas.appsusersgroup.com
- Illinois: k12illinois.appsusersgroup.com
- East: k12east.appsusersgroup.com (Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, Quebec, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island)
- Great Lakes: k12greatlakes.appsusersgroup.com (Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Ontario)
- South: k12south.appsusersgroup.com (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia)
- Central: k12central.appsusersgroup.com (Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Manitoba, Nunavet, and Saskatchewan)
- West: k12west.appsusersgroup.com (Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, British Columbia, Alberta, Yukon, and the Northwest Territories)
So, be sure to visit the Regional User Group for your area, check out the resources, and register your school (I registered my district earlier today).
As for us, our Apps User Group site will keep on growing and providing news, resources, discussions, and more. It is great that Google is developing these new Regional groups, since you never can have too much of a good thing.
